The Belgian team gets bronze….

It’s going to be a Belgian party here tonight and they deserved it!
It was very exciting, sweating and it made a big difference that the other countries made mistakes to get that medal. And of course not to forget the great performance of Judy-Ann Melchior with only 2 time faults and the great double clear rounds of Philippe Lejeune with Vigo and Jos Lansink with Valentina. But still after that we were depending of the faults of the other riders. When Jos did that clear round we were for sure 4th and had a ticket to go to the Olympic Games in London. But we wanted more… It could had been a silver medal but then Kevin Staut (Silvana) had to have a least one time fault and Bernardo Alves (Vancouver) at least one down.
Anyway Kevin Staut with Silvana stayed clear all the way and that would’ve been at least bronze for France. For the Germans it was already cooked, they knew already after there 3rd rider and 3 clear rounds that they had the gold medal. But then it was Bernardo Alves turn with Vancouver. Yesterday they had 3 really stupid faults and we would’ve liked to see that same scenario today actually. But Vancouver thought different this time and stayed clear until the second last fence. The Belgians were not so sportive about this on that time and cheered like crazy! Where was that party, here was that party…
Anyway we want to congratulate everybody because what they did here today was amazing, not normal! While everybody in Belgium is getting up the party here will still go one for a while…
Hopefully you can enjoy and celebrate it a bit in Belgium as well. It’s just a great performance.
With 3 Belgian riders going through to the individual final everything is still possible. Philippe Lejeune went to the 2nd place of the individual ranking.
Also Jos Lansink and Judy-Ann Melchior are in the top 30 and they can start again on Friday.
The last 4 riders will come back on Saturday for the horse challenge class.
But let that be a thought for tomorrow and let’s enjoy the moment now….
