Nations Cup in Sopot, it should had been better….

It was a real thriller to follow the Nations Cup in Sopot for us. Patrik had to start as first Belgian rider, and he already got a refusal on fence number 4. Quiet strange for Withney! But Patrik kept concentrated and rode back to the fence. One more fault on the way and they ended with 11 points. On those moments the other riders get more nervous to ride their round and we can only say “sorry” and “thank you” to Wilm, Marc and Lieven for bringing the team to the 2nd round.
With 16 points they passed to the 2nd round. Because Whitney itself was not jumping badly, they got a second chance to prove themselves in the 2nd round! Until the last line it looked like they were going to be clear. But just like Lieven Devos there were 2 more faults in the last line to add, damn it.
Marc Van Dijck and Valencia made it clear and because of that they ended on the 5th place of 11 participants, but still… It’s impossible to turn back times, otherwise I am sure that the goalkeeper of England would like to start over again too
Mistakes and misunderstandings happen on every level.
What makes the 5th place even worse is the fact that the 2nd place was for Italy. And that gave them some more points for the promotion to the top level series.
Winner of the Nations Cup in Sopot was Germany.
But Patrik was very happy today as well with the clear round in the big class of Cyber Vrijhern. The purpose of the trip to Poland was to be a good contribution for the Nations Cup, which was not successful. Tomorrow it’s the Grand Prix in Sopot, Patrik will ride Whitney. It’s certainly not as big as it is in Cannes.
There's Edwina Alexander won the first prize of 95,000 euro’s.
We find it particularly sad that we didn’t contribute for a higher classification in the Nations Cup. For our stable, the only consolation we have is the good results in Instanbul from the other Belgian team. They were 2nd, particularly Cibolin Prieure did very well with Candice Lauwers 0 and 4. We bought Cibolin Prieuré as a young horse at the auction of Fences.
