The chain is only as strong as the weakest link...

Day 2 at Bonheiden, a day that Patrick won’t forget!
With Discovery (Nabab x Heartbreaker) everything went really well until the second last fence! Until there she had one mistake but for a 7 year old mare she did very well! Discovery doesn’t have so much experience yet and she still has to grow in confidence and then just before the double the bit broke.
On that moment Patrick had no control anymore and Discovery started to panic. She luckily didn’t jump the double but she kept on running and running faster and faster…
We don’t want to make things sound different then they were but on that moment it was really nice that we got some help from other riders. A lot of riders came into the ring to try to catch her and in the end it was Eiken Sato who had her. A lot of panic but nothing happened, luckily!
With Va-vite it went a bit slower, just a bit too slow! In the small Grand Prix 1m45 the time was really short and also Va-vite got one point for the time. He ended 11th witch wasn’t a bad result at all.
Only 6 riders went to the jump off and Francois Mathy ended up as the best of them.
And Patrick kept he’s word that evening. He was happy that earlier that day he went to give blood… also very happy that it was not him that they had to give blood after what happened. So it shows that sometimes you need some luck in life.
Later on he’ll be taking the plain towards Spain, for the competition at La Coruna. Curious if you can feel the craziness about the World Cup football already?
On Sunday evening Patrick will have the chance to follow the final of the World Cup Football in Spain. With a slightly preference for the Dutch team but we better keep that a bit quiet over there…
