Grand Prix of Vilvoorde victory for Dirk Demeersman with Baron Cento.

Luck and bad luck is lying close to each other. That’s something that Marc Van Dijck found out today at the show in Vilvoorde. There’ve been already a few victories today for Bert Prouvé, Brent D’Haese and Bert Panneels. The whole weekend already Dirk was showing his form, he had won already 2 classes before the Grand Prix even started. On Friday afternoon he won the 1m40 class with riders Joe Clee and Niels Bruynseels right behind him, Patrick was 5th with Withney.
Also in the jump off of the Grand Prix everything went like planned for Dirk. Clear and quick with Baron Cento Heldenlaan.
As organiser Marc Van Dijck didn’t make it easy for the others. Together with Valencia (Quidam De Revel) he was doing a really good round to beat the time from Dirk, he was still clear until the last fence and then it went wrong, the distance didn’t match and Marc felt. Bad luck for the organisers of the show because afterwards it seems that Marc will be out for a couple weeks with a broken collar-bone. The timing is really bad now with the Belgian Championships for seniors coming up in September and a few selections for the team to those oooo so important shows. Luckily there were some other competitive riders that were in top form. Pieter Devos and Utopia were also in front in the price giving of the Grand Prix. Patrick just didn’t make it in the jump off…. Withney, Cyber and Va-Vite all had that one fence down.
The feeling is good and the confidence is there as well!
Cyber had one down on the first fence of the course and was clear the whole way for the rest.
Afterwards they changed riders. Cyber had to jump again but this time with our nephew Jeroen De Winter and they stayed clear until the jump off.
Jeroen had the instructions of daddy Erik and Uncle Patrick for not going too fast in the jump off with the thought about the Championships next week.
When he came in the jump off he got overloaded with cheering from his granddad Jos but Jeroen stayed calm and did a nice quick clear round. They’re ready for next week in Nieuwpoort!
Jeroen and Cyber ended up 5th in the showclass! The victory and the second place were both for Gilles Thomas, nephew of Marc Van Dijck.
And like that the first edition of the show in Vilvoorde is done. For sure a successful organisation!

Now we’re making ourselves ready for the Belgian Championships for ponies and students. At the same time the ladies will be competing against each other as well. This weekend there was also the Championships for Ladies from the HROV. Good news for Caroline De Laet because she ended up on a 3rd place with Elixir! The 6 year old daughter of Cento Lano.
At the CSI***Hachenburg was the most famous child of Cento Lano on the 3rd place in the 1m45 class. Maurice Van Roosbroeck and Dylano are also ready for their trip to Calgary, good! Niels Bruynseels showed on Friday in Vilvoorde in the 1m40 class that he’s in good shape with Carpallo, another team mate for Calgary! In Royan there was 1 fault and 1 point time for Rik Hemeryck and Qarco de Kerambars. And like that the general rehearsal for the 4 horses that will be joining the team for Calgary seems hopeful!

After the performances in Vilvoorde we’re sure! Patrick is going to Calgary with Withney and Va-Vite. If it’s possible to get it all organised it’s possible that Cyber also will be flying over. He will have to be leaving the 2nd of September as well. Until then we give him to Jeroen!
