Riders are punished when they don’t show up but what when the organization doesn’t organize?

The trip back from Polen will never had been such a long one… From the 3 star show of Katowice there came 2 invitations for Belgium. In the winter starting position are more difficult. Because Patrick wanted so badly to go to the 4 star show in Salzburg. There anyhow they’re jumping and we are very happy for our Belgians over there. Salzburg wasn’t an option for Patrick so we were looking forward to Katowice. There they decide on Friday that all international competitions were going to be cancelled. Financially this is a little nightmare. Health papers, transport for the horses, airplane tickets, and most importantly lost time and energy for nothing….

We were doubting to go in the beginning until we read in the schedule that the costs had to be paid if we didn’t show up. This would’ve been 200€ per horse. For 3 horses did would’ve been 600€. If you know everything in advance than Patrick wouldn’t have gone of course. Or then we should’ve tried to get into the 2 star show in Neeroeteren, that’s also always good organized.

If we would’ve a crystal ball but we don’t…. If they arrive safely home later today then will try to forget this lost trip as quick as possible. There’re bigger problems, or not?
The other brave Belgian rider José Thiry in Katowice stays in Polen, next week there’s another 2 star show there in Poznan.

Anyway we’re looking forward more than ever to the organization of Mechelen. Close to home, top organization, for own public. We’re looking forward to the selections. A few stars less or more it makes a big difference sometimes.
