BEAUTIFUL TITLE FOR THIBEAU SPITS & KADANS! NATIONAL CHAMPIONS D MIDDLE!

Last year at the national competition in Herenthout we saw Kadans van de Groenheuvel for the first time in action, ridden by Phaedra Polfliet. He was already pretty 3rd and attracted our attention. After a while we got the chance to buy Kadans from Dries Ceuppens, and that purchase we have done together with Koen and Sandra De Hornois. Thibeau was fortunate that he could ride both with High Trick and Kadans something he would learn a lot from as a rider.

Yesterday Thibeau went to the national competition and this with some ambition. He gave himself some chances in D light with High Trick, he thought he could do it! In the 2nd phase, he maybe just risked too much, and High Trick wasn’t confident about that distance.. He ended his barrage with five penalty points and no good feeling. It was over..

He knows he has a powerhouse at Kadans, plenty of power, but he still needs to work on speed.  But yesterday went differently, and with some tips from Uncle Erik Winter, he drove a very fast barrage. Just before the double jump Kadans sliced a little, but competent Thibeau managed to support Kadans, and so the first clear round in D middle was a fact.

We knew that there still had to coma two very fast riders; Lisse Bosch and Stefanie Van Riet. They would both ride their last pony competition and make the transition to the horses. We would be certainly also be satisfied with the bronze medal at this championship. Lisse rode a fine barrage with Jekilia but her time was not fast enough to beat Thibeau, she was stranded on three hundredths of a second.. The last combination was Stefanie Van Riet with El Carro.

It was immediately clear that the time of Stefanie would be faster. The last line was still delicate enough, and there were many errors made. Unfortunately for Stefanie, that last line is where it went wrong. Bronze was for Stefanie, silver for Lisse Bosch, but still very nice that Thibeau won and took that ribbon home!

This performance of Thibeau wouldn’t be possible without the whole team behind him. We certainly don’t forget all our helping hands! So just a very big thanks to everyone!

Also nice was the 4th place of the group dressage. It was a few years ago that Kontich could compete in the highest range of the group dressage and it is great that our boys Marnick and Thibeau could take part in that experience. Congratulations, Commander Elke Jorens!

For those who think Thibeau is an angel, I like to add an anecdote from the last training this week with Kadans towards Maurice Roosbroeck. Thibeau and Marnick certainly are grateful that I take time to take them to training. During the trip Thibeau asks me if I would like a mint, a King-ske. "Yes, Thibeau, super, I would like one." He kept an eye on me, weird... A few seconds later I realized that this mint surely tasted weird… My friendly son had given me a paracetamol! Bad character, but typical…. Son of….

Patrik had followed it from a distance, and he was quite content that Thibeau gave us such a nice present on our 18th anniversary!

Not only Thibeau did well, also our niece Julie Ceuterick gained a national title. She won in the dressage series DB1 with her horse Mateo Di Belle. This was also her last pony competition , she certainly has ended this way beauty!

Niece Nathalie De Winter also had a top performance with horse Bolero, with her 2nd place in style in the series D beginners. Our little Lauranne Spits did very well with her Sunny. Twin sister Catherine Spits hasn’t made a mistake with her Flore, also yesterday they great!

For Marnick and Orchid's Gail (Kanshebber x Justice) the purpose was to stay flawless, and collect points for D middle. He succeeded, and soon we have four ponies in this top series with Kadans, Esmee, High Trick and Gail.

The competition in Izegem certainly was an experience we will never forget. Also congratulations for the organization, everything was taken care of even the little details. Certainly not an easy task to do!
