Thrilling finale: Patrik wins Grand Prix

The time was set sharp in the Grand Prix and until the last rider it looked that there was not going to be a jump-off. They only rider to stay clear and within time was Holland’s Albert Zoer but last to go was the show president Patrik Spits and he managed to stay clear in front of his home crowd. The jump-off was a fact. Albert Zoer was first to go and he had to set the pace. He was fast with Wollie Bollie, a 10-year-old KWPN gelding by Cantos. The clock stopped at 43.65. Then Patrik entered the arena with Withney vd Dwerse Hagen (BWP, by Codex) and he went for it and finished in 43.42. The public went crazy and Patrik father in law, Jos Ceulemans jumped into the arena for joy. The Grand Prix of the Groentenjumping in St-Katelijne-Waver had a thrilling finale. An emotional Patrik said afterward: “this was my best victory ever!”
Australia's Amy Graham took third place with Bella Baloubet (Holst, by Baloubet du Rouet). Best Belgian combination was Sven van Dijck and the BWP gelding Vici R (by Darco). Full results
