Our nephew Jeroen De Winter was riding our 7 years old mare Uletta Dwerse Hagen (Cento Lano). He managed to win the silver medal, after 4 clear rounds, and also a clear round in the jump off. He was a little slower then Jul Wellens, the new Belgian champion. Earlier this year the older brother of Jul, Jef Wellens became already the Belgian champion Juniors. Two brothers, two champions, nice to see.
On the third place, Zoë Conter. Those 3 riders stayed clear in the jump off. The 4th rider qualified for the jump off, was the bronze medal of the European Championhips of Comporta. This time, Maxine De Pelsmaecker and Wippersnapper didn't stay clear, so she had to be satisfied with the fourth place..
We are really happy for Jeroen, we know how hard he worked to get this medal. He's also an example for the other kids, also for our son Marnick Spits. He started a few weeks ago also with riding horses, and tried to jump this championship. Now, he realises that he wasn't really ready for it, but anyway, Don G brought him each time safely to the finish. In the consolation, Marnick and Don stayed clear, good enough for the 11th place.
