Exciting week; end of the internet auction and stallions approval in Moorsele !
We enter the final week before the closure of the internet - auction, here with mixed feelings.
When drawing up the selection of horses for the auction we had in mind our son, Marnick Spits, would soon make the transition to the horses. It went well with Bijou , he was growing , and we would still find some other nice young horses . That's usually not a problem! Thibeau already had enough ponies, so we decided to include the poney Katinka vd Vrombautshoeve ( Calipso vd Hoeve Vondel Corsaire x ) in the Troostwijk collection.
A spur of the moment .. Early 2013 Marnick jumped classes of 90cm with Katinka. Since august 2013 they made the transition to the 1m classes, with success. During WEN they started a 1.10m class. With 1 fault they still did a good job, although we could see that Katinka was missing some experience. Last Saturday during the I love jumping it was a difficult class in the 1.10m GP ponies.
Only one combination did it clear all the way, winner was Louise Van Laer with Calando . It almost seemed that a jump off of the combinations with 4 penalty points was a fact, and there our Marnick would have been part of.
Katinka jumped that class so easily , and an avoidable mistake at fence number 3. The difficult parts were no problem. Later on they were rewarded with a beautiful 4th place!
Marnick beginning to get some courage and seems to want to prolong his ponycarreer with Katinka.. He even thinks they will make it later this year to 1.20m classes. Mixed feelings right now. Once you have taken a decision, we have to stand behind it. Let's hope all our horses of these auction can just find a good place to be, and that the new owners can enjoy working or riding with them.
On which we did not have mixed feelings about were the performances of the stallions High Trick and Kadans vd Groenheuvel in the final of the Pony Criterion in Neeroeteren , which was held yesterday.
On which we did not have mixed feelings about were the performances of the stallions High Trick and Kadans vd Groenheuvel in the final of the Pony Criterion in Neeroeteren , which was held yesterday.
High Trick did a double clear round in 1m class, and was 7th. With Kadans vd Groenheuvel , also a son of Calipso vd Vondelhoeve , Thibeau started in the 1.10m competitions. Kadans was provisionally 7th in the ranking, where he didn’t make one mistake in his 5 appearances! Yesterday, he did a double clear round , good for 3rd place ! Victory was for Alexander Housen and Maartje Verberckmoes on 2nd place. In the final ranking Kadans finished in a creditable 5th place, chic!
We could also follow the 1m20 class, which was won by Belgian champion Claudine Van Duffel with Extra Dry du Geer, who kept in a fantastic way the young talents Alexander Housen and Thibault Philippaerts behind.
Kadans is already approved for the BRP , and once High Trick was too. He was sold to Portugal , and therefore he had not fulfilled the obligation to present his descendants. Saturday High Trick will present himself to the stallion jury hoping to be approved again.
These days many stallion owners will be in tension, because the BWP studbook has its 3rd phase of the stallion selection in Moorsele . For our Krezip DH ( Va - Vite x Darco x Saygon ) it starts Thursday .
On Saturday March 22 there is the final of the stallion competition in Moorsele where Donckervoort and Jericho will start with the 6 - and 5 - year olds.
We don’t get much time to rest, but that’s not necessary. Our batteries are properly charged to receive you all.
On Wednesday, March 19th, there is the first preview of the selected horses of the Troostwijk auction.

13h : Welcome and opportunity to go to the stables .
14h : Presentation broodmares.
14.15h : Start free jumping of the promises.
15.15h : Showing the competition horses under the saddle
17.00h : End and again opportunity to see the horses in the stables , and opportunity to look at their files in the presence of veterinary Frederik Dewulf .
Program Sunday, 23/03/14 :
9.30h : Welcome and opportunity to see the horses in their stables
10am : Presentation boordmares
10.15h : Free jumping promises
11.30h - 13.30h : Show competition horses under saddle
13h30 to 16h : Possibility to try horses under supervision, look at their medical records .
On those days we cannot sell horses. Everything happens on the Internet at www.troostwijk.com . What we can sell is drinks and snacks at reasonable prices.
